Education Philosophy
Our approach to education
We believe in a balanced approach that combines strong academic foundations with social-emotional learning. We understand that fostering relationship skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities is just as important as developing literacy, math, and critical thinking skills.
Our goal is to cultivate well-rounded learners who are not only prepared for kindergarten but also equipped with the emotional intelligence needed to navigate life's challenges.
As a Spanish dual-language program, 50% of our instruction is conducted in Spanish. Learning a second language at an early age goes beyond linguistic benefits; it enhances cognitive skills like reasoning, problem-solving, and memory while promoting better communication and intercultural awareness.
Our bilingual education fosters an appreciation for cultural diversity, equipping children with essential skills that will benefit them throughout their lives

Learning Through Play
We emphasize learning through play and hands-on experiences. Children engage in meaningful activities that spark curiosity, creativity, and independence.
Through active exploration, they build problem-solving skills and gain confidence in their abilities. Play is at the heart of how young minds absorb information, experiment with new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
A Unique Curriculum
Our curriculum blends an emergent approach inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy with a focus on social studies. This unique combination encourages children to take an active role in their learning, sparking exploration, curiosity, and deep engagement with the world around them. Each year, we select a country of study, immersing children in its traditions, environment, food, art, and history. This year-long exploration culminates in a special showcase where children present their discoveries and experiences from the year.

Cognitive Development
Mixed-Age Learning
In our mixed-age classrooms, older children naturally take on leadership roles, while younger children learn by observing and interacting with their peers.
This dynamic fosters a sense of community and supports the development of social skills, empathy, and collaboration
Pre-K and Junior Pre-K
Our Pre-K and Junior Pre-K programs stand out by focusing early on literacy, writing, and arithmetic to ensure children are well-prepared for kindergarten. We believe in laying a strong academic foundation that supports future success.

At Big and Tiny, we aim to provide an educational experience that not only nurtures children’s intellectual growth but also their emotional, social, and ethical development.
